House of Pansa
The House of Pansa, otherwise referred to as the House of Gnaeus Aleius Nigidius Maius, occupies an entire city block. Most of the block fronting the surrounding streets was let out for shops, stores and living accommodation as can be seen from the grayed areas in the accompanying plan. The main entrance to the house itself lies on the Via delle Terme . The house was initially excavated in 1810 and again in 1813, 1827, 1852 and finally in 1943 after the property was bombed.
House of Tragic Poet
The House of the Tragic Poet, excavated in 1824, lies at the corner of the Via delle Terme and the Via della Fullonica, across from the Forum Baths. It is a small, but excellent example of a Pompeian house in the Imperial age.
The house, which was built in its present form around the end of the first century BC, has the classic layout of a Samnite House. The large, single roomed shops which lie on either side of the entrance were presumably managed by the owner of the house as each has a narrow door opening onto the entrance corridor.

House of Faun
The House of the Faun, situated on the north side of the Via della Fortuna , is named after the statue of a dancing faun found there. It is a fine example of the result of the fusion of the architectural models of the Italic house centred around the atrium and the Hellenistic peristyle dwelling. It occupies an entire insula and was built over an earlier 3rd century BC dwelling which, with its hortus, was on the site of what is now the first peristyle.
House of Sallust
The house of sallust is named after an election notice painted on the facade of the building in which Gaius Sallustius is recommended for office. The house is sometimes also referred to as the House of A. Cossus Libanus, after a seal of his found in the house.

House of Vettii
The house of vettii, excavated in 1894-95, derives its name from two bronze seals found near a strongbox in the atrium. The seals bore the names of two freedmen brothers, Aulus Vettius Restitutus and Aulus Vettius Conviva.
House of the Golden Cupids
The house of golden cupids, initially excavated between 1903 and 1905, is thought to have once belonged to Gnaeus Poppaeus Habitus. Situated on the Via del Vesuvio, it is a refined dwelling, richly decorated throughout. It was named after the glass discs etched with cupids found in a cubiculum.
